San Luis Obispo - The Small Business Administration recently honored Bryan Sarlitt, CEO of TechXpress, Inc of San Luis Obispo, as their 2007 Regional Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Sarlitt was honored at a special Small Business Week Expo on April 27th in San Luis Obispo.

Sarlitt is the award winner Region IX which includes California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii and Guam.

"The Small Business Administration is very proud of the phenomenal growth and entrepreneurial success that TechXpress has achieved. Bryan Sarlitt of TechXpress serves as role model for other young people considering going into small business," said Carlos G. Mendoza, District Director for the Fresno SBA Office.

This prestigious award recognizes a young small business entrepreneur under the age of 30 who serves as the majority owner and bears principal responsibility for the business. SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year nominations are judged on the following criteria: evidence of success as measured by sales and profits, increased employment opportunities created by the business, development and utilization of innovative or creative business methods and demonstrated entrepreneurial potential necessary for long-term success and economic growth.

"I'm honored to have been chosen as the winner of such a prestigious business award from such a respectable organization. The Cuesta College SBDC has been a great resource and partner in TechXpress success," said Sarlitt.

In 1999 at the young age of 20, Sarlitt started TechXpress as a home based business with one part-time contractor. Today it is ranked one of the largest information technology service operations on the Central Coast of California. TechXpress currently employs over 30 full-time team members supporting more than 5000 clients between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. The company plans to expand its wide array of services nationally into other communities like those on the Central Coast.

"It was a great honor to nominate such a well rounded individual for the SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and we are pleased to see that he has achieved recognition at this level," said Cindi Wilshusen, Director of the Cuesta College SBDC. "I truly believe that Bryan will continue to be a successful entrepreneur in the years to come, through his dedication to the community and business growth. He has a strong desire to be successful, eager to learn, and has so much to give back to the community."
