Quintron Systems gains efficiencies by outsourcing its IT management to TechXpress

Q&A with David E. Wilhite, President & COO of Quintron Systems:

“Quintron Systems is very much a high tech company. We build communications equipment and access control equipment that are used at major government installations all around the country. We have right now about 85 employees; we’ll be adding more this summer. We operate in 3 locations, with about 50 employees here in Santa Maria which is the main location, we’ve got about 50 employee, about another 20 in the Pasadena area, and then we’ve got about 10 people that work on the east coast, mainly in Washington D.C. that support some of the intelligence agency locations out there.

When you come down to it, everything we do revolve around the computers and systems and software that are associated with it. So, the idea of any of that not working for more than an hour is not something that we want to entertain.”

What advantages have you’ve experienced with NetGuard vs. your former IT support situation?

“The biggest advantage is the breadth and depth of expertise that we get now compared to having just a single in-house IT employee. From a dollars vs. performance basis there’s no comparison; NetGuard is a much better way to go. Again, the day-to-day support, the ability to get quick response, they’ve got a large enough staff that it’s rarely more than a few minutes before we get some response from them; it doesn’t mean the problem is solved in a few minutes every time but at least the attention level is always there. They have the ability to monitor our operations in a way that’s very effective so they can see problems happen when we don’t even know about it and that certainly is a big benefit as well.”

What do you value most about your relationship with TechXpress?

“Well, it really comes back to the overall service; that’s the bottom line. Are they doing the job, is our network up, is our equipment up, are we not having problems with our systems, and their performance in that regard has been excellent. Beyond that obviously it comes down to customer service, the attention. We’ve got a very good working relationship with Bryan Sarlitt (CEO) and his critical staff.  We know them as associates and friends, and they come in and do a great job for us and so the working environment from that side is really positive as well.”

What are some of the NetGuard services that you use most often?

“Other than just the day to day running of the network, watching it, dealing with issues that come up, there are always things that happen to computers that people need help on. So the help desk function where any of us can send in problems and get quick response from their people, from a day to day standpoint has been really helpful.  Their ability to come in and log into your computer and work with you to address a problem is very helpful. For example, your email gets fouled up for some reason and you don’t know why, well they can log in and work with you to resolve that in a matter of minutes and so those kinds of things on a day-to-day basis are really valuable.”

What other benefits have you realized in your partnership with TechXpress?

“Again I think it comes down to the services involved. Their services have been excellent. Their pricing has been very acceptable from my standpoint, and if you compare it to what I would have to have internally, it’s an excellent investment. There’s just no comparison to this level of service and for what it can do, if you‘re in a business environment where your network and computer systems are critical, which obviously is our case.”

Would you recommend TechXpress and its NetGuard services to others?

“Yes, I definitely recommend TechXpress; they’ve done a great job for us. Bryan and his staff as I said from a customer service perspective bring a lot to the party as well. Not just the raw performance, but their attitude and their willingness to work with us as a customer is a very important part of the partnership that you’re looking for in IT support like this. So they’ve done a great job for us and I’d recommend them to any company that have to depend upon an IT system or environment as an important part of their business, and must perform all the time. It’s a complicated world and having someone with the expertise that TechXpress can bring is absolutely critical.”
